When it comes to water mugs, I feel like I've been through them all. I was ready to give up when I found this wonderful mug in the *automotive section* of our nearest superstore, of all places. I couldn't be happier with my Bubba Keg.
First and foremost, the insulation is fantastic. I fill this up with ice and water to the brim every night and the water is still ice cold in the morning when I wake up. Now that it's winter, I find that the water is even still very cool to the tongue in the afternoon when I get home.
The Bubba Keg does not sweat. Period. Well, that's not true - there's a tiny little indention on the very bottom of the mug (under the sticker) that gets a touch of condensation, but that's it. I don't need to use a coaster with this mug, ever.
The Bubba Keg (or at least this size) does not tip over. This mug is huge, and definitely won't fit in a car cup-holder, and the whole thing is extremely sturdy. My cats like to knock over those tall, plastic water bottles, but they can't move this mug. And the very few times I've dropped the mug on the floor, there's been very little spillage - the output hole seems well-built to prevent waste.
The hole at the top is perfect for straws (which I use) and the lid closes neatly and firmly, although I rarely use it (don't want to bend the straw).
If I had one complaint about this mug it's that the top is a screw-on (as opposed to a pop-top) which is great to prevent spills, but it also means that the drink hole will only end up in one of two places. With this size, it's not a big problem - do you want the hole 90 degrees from the handle on the left side or the right side? - but the smaller mug I own has a stop point of either right over the handle or directly opposite of it. That's a tad irritating, but it's worth it to know that when I drop 70 oz of fluid, the result will be a slow trickle and not an explosion from the top snapping off.
Their accredited online supplier states that the Bubba Keg is BPA-free ([...]), so take that for what it's worth.
